ISLAMABAD: Twelve Pakistanis have been identified among the survivors of the boat that sank off the coast of Greece.
Spokesperson of the Foreign Office says that at present we are unable to confirm the number and identity of Pakistani citizens among the dead. Pakistani Mission in Greece headed by Ambassador Amir Aftab is in touch with the local authorities.
The spokesperson said that the local authorities are in contact to identify the deceased Pakistani citizens and provide assistance to their families. Our mission is also in contact with the Greek authorities in the process of identifying the 78 recovered bodies.
This process of identification will be done through DNA matching with immediate family members (parents and children only). He said that the families of potential passengers on board the ill-fated boat are requested to contact our mission in Greece on 24/7 helpline numbers for verification purposes.
