A notification has been issued regarding the trial of the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Toshakhana NAB investigation and a corruption case involving 190 million pounds.
Significant progress has been reported in both cases, leading to the decision for the jail trial of the PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan. The Ministry of Law and Justice has formally notified that the accountability court will oversee these cases within Adiala Jail.
Recent developments also include a decision by the Special Official Secrets Act court to conduct the trial of Chairman PTI Imran Khan within the confines of the jail regarding the cipher case.
During the hearing of the cipher case at the Islamabad Judicial Complex, Special Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain received a report from jail authorities stating the inability to produce the accused, Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. A request was made to the Islamabad Police for enhanced security, citing serious security concerns for Chairman PTI.
Following discussions, the court ruled that due to security apprehensions, the trial of Chairman PTI would take place in jail. Additionally, the media will be permitted to cover the jail trial, allowing interested individuals to observe the proceedings.
