In Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), declared his intention to occupy opposition seats in the parliament.
He stated that he would abstain from voting for the president, prime minister, or any other positions, emphasizing his lack of confidence in the current assembly’s ability to complete its term.
Addressing the media at the Parliament House, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed skepticism about the assembly’s longevity, suggesting it might not last a full five-year term. When asked about potential joint protests with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he hinted at collaborative action but urged patience for further developments.
Although Maulana Fazlur Rehman, along with other newly elected members, took his oath in the National Assembly, he affirmed his party’s decision to occupy opposition benches and refrain from participating in any voting processes.
