Negotiations for the second and final economic review between Pakistan and the IMF have commenced in Islamabad.
Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, along with the State Bank Governor, Energy Minister, and Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), are participating in the introductory meeting at the Ministry of Finance. Leading the IMF review mission is Nathan Porter.
Additionally, separate meetings are scheduled for the Finance Minister, State Bank Governor, and Energy Minister. During these meetings, Minister Aurangzeb will outline the government’s priorities to the IMF mission, the State Bank Governor will discuss the implementation of IMF goals, and the Energy Minister will provide updates on goal implementation.
As per the Ministry of Finance, Pakistan has successfully met 25 out of 26 IMF targets under the Second Economic Review, demonstrating significant progress in the loan program’s objectives.
