PESHAWAR: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has been prohibited from visiting his residence at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad.
Chief Minister KPK, Ali Amin Gandapur, has taken control of the governor’s residence, leading to the removal of the governor’s belongings from the premises. Consequently, Governor Kundi can no longer use his annex at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. Chief Minister Gandapur has notified the relevant staff of this decision.
According to the provincial government spokesperson, Barrister Saif, the section of KP House previously reserved for the governor has been abolished following a decision made in the last provincial cabinet meeting. This change was driven by the need to provide accommodation for ministers and assembly members, who will now use the former governor’s annex.
Barrister Saif also mentioned that alternative accommodation arrangements for the governor are being made within KP House. He suggested that the governor temporarily stay in Sindh House and assured that the governor would not face a similar ban there as PTI MPs did in Sindh House. He emphasized that the governor has multiple residences in Islamabad and should not face any accommodation issues.
Governor Kundi responded to the media, labeling the closure of his annex in KP House as unconstitutional. He stated that he would not restrict any Chief Minister from visiting the Governor’s House, emphasizing that political conflicts should be resolved in the political arena.
This development marks an escalation in the ongoing conflict between Governor Kundi and Chief Minister Gandapur, which has moved from verbal threats to tangible actions.
