In Sargodha’s Mujahid Colony, an alleged desecration of the Holy Quran incited an angry mob, leading to protests and vandalism outside the colony. A large police presence surrounded the area and arrested dozens from the mob.
Express News reports that senior police officers, including the DPO, arrived at the scene to try and control the agitated crowd. The mob set fires outside the house of the accused and attempted to burn it down. Police detained dozens of individuals from the crowd.
DPO Dr. Asad Ejaz stated that a search operation is ongoing in the entire area, the situation is under control, and those inciting violence will be arrested through CCTV footage.
