In Rawalpindi, PTI founder Imran Khan stated that a narrative was crafted with a specific agenda to accuse him of inciting people to protest against GHQ.
In a statement released on the social networking site X (formerly Twitter), Imran Khan asserted that a narrative was propagated in the media the day before yesterday, claiming he incited protests at GHQ. He emphasized that, in its nearly three-decade history, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has no record of violent protests. He accused the authorities of using the worst tactics to provoke violence against PTI over the last two and a half years, including a failed assassination attempt on him in November 2022, for which he was denied an FIR of his choice.
Khan further alleged that his residence was twice attacked by the military establishment, with an assassination attempt by plainclothes individuals during one of his appearances. He described the abduction of a former Prime Minister and the head of Pakistan’s largest political party on May 9 as a potentially disastrous incident, yet maintained that PTI’s political training emphasizes non-violence and a commitment to political, constitutional, and legal struggle.
Khan labeled the events of May 9 as a false flag operation and argued that those who stole CCTV footage of the day are the true culprits. He criticized comparisons to the US Capitol Hill protests of January 6, pointing out that only the individuals involved were punished following a formal investigation, rather than an entire political party.
Khan also condemned the branding of the entire Pakistani nation as terrorists by a few individuals from the 1970s, who misunderstand social media and label it as digital terrorism. He claimed that 90% of Pakistan’s population supports PTI and that labeling them as terrorists would create a rift between the military and the people. Drawing a parallel to the 1971 military operation in Dhaka, he warned against similar outcomes.
He underscored the importance of ethics in building nations, governments, and societies, arguing that nothing remains when morals disappear. He stated that those criticizing the current regime are advocating for constitutional supremacy and true freedom, which should not be considered treason. He criticized the creation of absurd cases against peaceful protesters and the use of fascist tactics when peaceful methods failed.
Imran Khan concluded by instructing Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to lead a rally in Islamabad, urging the entire nation to fully participate in the rally to achieve true freedom and oppose the oppressive and fascist regime in the country.
