LAHORE: The Lahore High Court accepted the petition against the presidential ordinance of NAB amendments for formal hearing.
The court issued a notice to the federal government and other parties and sought their response, while the attorney general has been summoned for judicial assistance at the next hearing.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan heard the application. Petitioner Muneer Ahmed’s counsel Azhar Siddique presented the arguments.
The petitioner was of the view that the Presidential Ordinance can be issued only in case of emergency but the amendments were made to put pressure on the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
Taking a stand in the petition, he said that the ordinance was issued by the Acting President for political purposes, major references will be affected by the NAB amendments, which will spread anarchy.
It was requested that the court declare the NAB amendments null and void through the Presidential Ordinance.
