LONDON: According to a new study, the number of children using vaping has increased by 50%. Data from the UK shows an increase in 11- to 17-year-olds trying vaping.
The number which was 7.7 percent last year has reached 11.6 percent this year. While selling vape to under-18s is illegal, there are posts on social media from young people talking about different flavors.
Alarm bells are now being sounded by experts on this matter and the government is being urged to crack down on the sale of vape to children.
In 2014, the number of children who said they had vaped once or twice nearly doubled in nine years.
This number, which was 5.6 percent in 2014, has increased to 11 percent this year. It has reached 6 percent.
Deborah Arnott, chief executive of Ash, said: “We need to stop children experimenting with vape, and the government’s crackdown on illegal sales to young children is an important first step.
At the same time, the government needs to take strict measures to stop the promotion of vape among children.
