The federal government set a new record by taking loans of 14900 billion rupees in one year. The State Bank has released the data of internal and external debt of the country, according to which the total debt of the country was Rs 43705 billion in April 2022, which increased to Rs 58599 billion in April 2023.
Thus, the federal government took a record loans of 14900 billion rupees in a year, that is, 41 billion rupees were borrowed daily.
According to the central bank, the government borrowed 34 percent of the total national debt in a year, a record debt of 1476 billion rupees was taken in April 2023 alone, 99 percent of the loans were taken from local sources due to the lack of external loans in April.
According to the statistics, the external debt due to the country increased by 7259 billion rupees (49 percent) to 22050 billion rupees in one year.
Similarly, the internal debt increased by 7635 (34 percent) billion rupees to reach the level of 36549 billion rupees in one year.
