Google’s parent company Alphabet is launching a project to bring internet to rural and remote areas after failed attempts to deliver internet via giant balloons.

Tara and Bharti Airtel are one of India’s largest telecommunication and internet providers, Mahesh Krishnaswamy, who leads the Tara company, says that they are launching a new large-scale project in India using laser internet technology. However, he did not reveal the financial details of the project.
The terminals, which look like traffic signals, will exchange lasers to enable Wi-Fi access to nearby areas without cables.

Straw Taylor, who leads Alphabet Innovation Lab X, says Tara is providing more data per day than Lon has provided in its history.
Bharti Airtel Chief Technology Officer Randeep Sekhun said Tara will also help in providing high-speed internet service in urban areas of developed countries.
Mahesh Krishna Swamy was recently in a small village in India called ‘Osur’ where he started the process of installing Tara, he said that the residents of Ossur will be able to get high speed internet for the first time.
He said that there are lakhs of villages across India where people are deprived of internet, but a day will surely come when people will be able to benefit from the facility of internet through this technology.
Google pledged $10 billion to digitize India in July 2020, while the company last year invested $700 million for a 1.28% stake in India’s Airtel.
