The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to blacklist the passports of the human traffickers involved in the boat accident in Greece and file a case against them under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
According to a statement from FIA spokesperson, Director General FIA Mohsin Hasan Butt and Additional Director General North Rana Abdul Jabbar visited FIA Lahore Zone where Director FIA Lahore Zone Sarfaraz Work and Director Faisalabad Zone. Rai Ijaz Ahmed briefed them on the progress regarding the Yunan incident.
Lahore and Faisalabad zone informed senior officials of FIA that so far 5 inquiries have been initiated and 149 cases have been registered while 41 human traffickers have been arrested.
DGFIA has ordered the formation of more teams to immediately arrest the suspects involved in the Yunnan boat accident, saying that the raiding teams are in constant touch with the families to arrest the human traffickers.
He said that all resources should be used to arrest the accused.
Director General FIA while ordering action against the suspects involved in the boat accident under the Money Laundering Act said that the identity cards and bank accounts of the agents involved in the boat accident should be immediately blocked.
DGFIA further said that the passports of the human traffickers involved in the Yunnan boat accident should be blacklisted and the officers posted at all the airports of the country should be closely monitored to arrest the agents involved.
He said that the airport in-charges should ensure that no agent escapes abroad.
It should be noted that a boat containing 800 migrants, including about 400 Pakistanis, sank in the Mediterranean Sea near Greece, out of which only 104 people could be rescued.
