From January to April 2023, an average of 2 women were abducted every hour in Punjab. A report based on data from an NGO has come out, which was collected by filing a ‘Right to Information’ request with the Punjab Police.
According to the SSDO, the police is doing a remarkable job in registering cases of violence. An increase in the number of cases has been seen from the registered cases.
According to the report, 5551 women were kidnapped in Punjab in these 4 months, while 1111 reports of rape of women were reported.
According to the data of the report, violence against women during this period. More than 10,000 cases have been reported.
According to statistics, from January to April, 1768 cases of violence against children and 858 cases of sexual abuse of children were reported in Punjab.
During this period, 7 children were sexually abused daily in Punjab. On the other hand, Lahore remained the hotspot district with more cases of violence against women and children.
