The Federal Board of Revenue Headquarters issued transfer orders against the collectors of Pakistan Customs despite the weekly holiday on Sunday due to the investigation into the alleged corruption of billions of rupees.
Officers have been appointed and a formal notification has also been issued in this regard. On the charge of mega corruption, Saqif Saeed has been dismissed from the post of Director Transit Trade and ordered to report to the FBR headquarters.
Collector Customs Usman Bajwa and Collector Customs Aamir Thahim have also been removed from their posts and ordered to report to FBR headquarters Islamabad.
According to the notification, Basit Maqsood Abbasi has been posted as Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi while Sadia Shiraz has been appointed as Director Transit Trade. An additional charge has been given.
According to the sources, important progress has been made in preventing the wanted customs officers from escaping abroad, the names of the customs officers involved in corruption have been put on the stop list, the names of customs collectors Saqif Saeed, Usman Bajwa, Aamir Taheem have been put on the stop list.
FIA has been put on the stop list, the names of arrested customs officers Yawar Abbas and Tariq Mehmood have also been included in the stop list, while the name of Chalia smuggler Imran Noorani has also been put on the stop list by FIA, FIA Immigration.
The list of wanted customs officers has been sent by FIA Anti-Corruption Circle. Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate South has extended the remand of 2 customs officers arrested in the customs mega corruption scandal.
In the Karachi City Court on Sunday, FIA presented 2 officers involved in the Customs Mega Corruption Scam on completion of 2-day physical remand.
Among the accused are Tariq Mehmood and Yawar Abbas. The investigating officer has to investigate the accused further The remand should be extended. The court accepted the plea and extended the remand of the accused for 3 days and adjourned the hearing till July 19.
