In Islamabad, the Election Commission has allocated election symbols to 23 political parties for the upcoming general elections. However, it rejected the request of the Pakistan Stability Party for a specific symbol.
The commission, chaired by Member Election Commission Nisar Durrani, considered the applications for allotting election symbols. During the hearing, the Stability Pakistan Party sought the symbol of Shaheen, which was already held by the All Pakistan Muslim League. The Election Commission proposed the symbol of a sparrow to the Stability Pakistan Party as an alternative.
The registration of the Stability Pakistan Party is still pending, and the Election Commission has requested them to provide relevant documents. Meanwhile, other parties have been allotted various symbols such as a sword to the People’s Party, a book to JUI(F), a ring to Union Jamiat-e-Islam, a cup to People’s Muslim League, a bucket to Kisan Etihad, a moon to Hazara Democratic Party, a hockey stick to Pakistan Awami League, and a knife to Pakistan Tehreek Insaniyat.
Furthermore, the Election Commission has assigned symbols like a missile to Pakistan Peace Movement, a pistol to Pakistan Protection Movement, victory sign to Pakistan Peoples Party Bhutto Shaheed, a vest to Pakistan Welfare Movement, a plaque to JUI ideological, a helmet to Modern Awami Party, a telephone to Pakistan Welfare Movement, and a thermos and Allah Akbar Tehreek were allotted the symbol Jag.
Additionally, the All Pakistan Muslim League was given conditional approval for the Shaheen symbol, contingent on holding intra-party elections within 40 days.
