Pervez Elahi, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, is facing a significant escalation in his problems as his long-time friend, Afgan Farooq, has become a key witness in a corruption case against him.
According to reliable sources from Express News, Afgan Farooq has provided a statement to the anti-corruption authorities, revealing damning information. He alleges that he was heavily bribed by Pervaiz Elahi.
In his statement, Afghan Farooq claims that a contractor offered him 25 crore rupees for a two billion project, with the promise of an advance payment of 5 crore rupees and the remaining 20 crore rupees upon the project’s bill clearance. Reportedly, 5 crores were indeed handed over to him, delivered in five separate packets of one crore each, disguised as white bundles of urea fertilizer. Shockingly, Pervez Elahi allegedly received the money in front of Afgan Farooq, taking the money out of the packets and counting it.
This corruption case was officially registered in April based on a complaint from Red Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption, Abdul Waqar. The FIR names several government officials, including Pervez Elahi, Personal Secretary Monis Elahi, Sohail Awan, and the contractor Haji Tariq.
