In Islamabad, the first-ever Pakistani communication app called “Beep Pakistan” has been officially launched as an alternative to WhatsApp. The inauguration ceremony was led by the Federal Minister for IT, Syed Aminul Haq. The app, developed by the National Information Technology Board as part of the Smart e-Office initiative, offers features like audio, video, and conference calling, with all data stored within Pakistan.
Initially, Beep Pakistan will be limited to specific government officials for trial use. After a one-month testing period, it will be made available to all government officers and employees. The primary goal of the application is to ensure the secure exchange of important official conversations among government personnel. The intention is to open the app for public use after one year of successful implementation.
During the event, the participants expressed their appreciation for Syed Aminul Haq’s outstanding contributions in the field of information and communication technology over his three-year tenure as the Federal Minister for IT.
