In the Lincoln Premier League (LPL) match, Babar Azam displayed a stunning batting performance, scoring his 10th T20 century for the Colombo Strikers.
Playing a vital role in the chase of 189 runs against the Galle Titans on Monday, the Pakistan captain led his team to a convincing seven-wicket victory.
Babar Azam’s innings was a sight to behold as he started aggressively, smashing three consecutive fours off Kasan Rajitha in the very first over. He reached his half-century in just 34 balls, marking his 87th fifty in the shortest format, before going on to score a brilliant century in 57 balls, comprising eight fours and five sixes.
Notably, Babar Azam’s 10 centuries put him second on the list of most T20 centuries, with only Chris Gayle ahead of him, having secured 22 centuries, while Virat Kohli holds the third position with 8 centuries.
Despite his outstanding performance, Babar Azam was not made the captain of Colombo Strikers. The exact reason for this decision was explained by the bowling coach, which may be found in the related article.
During the match, Colombo Strikers needed 14 runs to win in the last over. Unfortunately, Babar Azam was caught at long off on the first ball of the over after scoring an impressive 104 runs.
Following Babar Azam’s dismissal, Mohammad Nawaz stepped in to bat and quickly contributed 14 runs off just 4 balls, securing the much-needed victory for the team with a six and a four.
