In a video released by the PCB after the inaugural one-day match, Naseem Shah, the emerging pace bowler of the national cricket team, credited “Afghan bowlers” for his enhanced batting skills. When questioned by Mohammad Haris about his improved performance with the bat, Naseem chuckled and replied, “I owe it to the Afghan bowlers, along with Haris.” Fellow teammate Shaheen Afridi, present during the exchange, also shared a laugh.
Naseem, adopting a more earnest tone, emphasized the team’s collective effort and rigorous batting practice. He highlighted that contributing runs at the end of innings proves beneficial for the team’s overall performance.
It’s worth noting that in the series’ inaugural ODI, Pakistan secured a commanding victory over Afghanistan with a substantial 142-run lead. Notably, Naseem Shah’s unbeaten 18-run contribution played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s total score of 201 runs. In response, the Afghan team was dismissed for a mere 59 runs in just 20 overs while chasing the target.
