Prior to the Asia Cup set to be held in Pakistan, cricket enthusiasts were taken aback as the host team’s name was missing from the jerseys of participating teams.
Numerous users on the social media platform Twitter pointed out that during the previous year, when teams wore the official jerseys of the Asia Cup 2022, the hosting logo of Sri Lanka was included, but the hosting logo of Pakistan was omitted from the green shirts’ jerseys, despite there being no other Asian teams in the tournament.
Yesterday, upon the announcement of the official kit by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming World Cup in India, the name of India was prominently displayed on it. This marks the first instance of Pakistan’s name being featured on the Indian team’s jersey.
Despite Pakistan being the host of the current Asia Cup edition, fans have expressed disappointment over the absence of the host country’s name on the team’s jersey. They have presented various arguments to support their discontent.
In the prior T20-format tournament, the United Arab Emirates served as the host, but the team jerseys bore the name of Sri Lanka, which was the actual host.
It’s important to note that the Asia Cup is scheduled to commence on August 30 with a match between Pakistan and Nepal.
