In Washington, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller once again emphasized that the United States remains neutral in Pakistani politics and is solely committed to ensuring free and fair elections.
As reported by the World News Agency, during a weekly briefing, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US Department of State, responded to a journalist’s question regarding the aftermath of the recent election and economic stability comparisons between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In reply, Matthew Miller reiterated that the United States consistently supports Pakistan’s efforts for economic recovery and national development and will continue to do so.
When asked about the US Ambassador’s two meetings with the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan within two weeks, Matthew Miller declined to provide a direct response. He suggested that the journalist seek answers from the US embassy, which would be better equipped to address the question. However, he reaffirmed that the United States advocates for free and transparent elections in Pakistan without endorsing any particular party or individual.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated their commitment to supporting a government elected by the people’s votes in Pakistan.
It is worth noting that the American Ambassador, Donald Bloom, had previously stated that his meetings with the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan were in line with Pakistan’s constitution and laws, aimed at ensuring free and fair elections in the country.
