Complaints of impropriety lodged against former Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan have been formally dismissed, with Justice Sardar Tariq Masood ruling them as devoid of merit. These misconduct allegations were brought forth by ordinary citizens against the aforementioned judges. Justice Sardar Masood provided his legal assessment on both complaints.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, the National Assembly also made the decision to initiate a misconduct reference against the Chief Justice. This decision came about when Shazia Soobia Soomro, a female member of the People’s Party in the assembly, proposed the establishment of a special committee to pursue this reference against the Chief Justice, and it received majority approval through a vote.
