Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Vice Chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has taken his appeal to the Supreme Court seeking bail in the cipher case.
He aims to challenge the Islamabad High Court’s decision and urges the annulment of the bail rejection, citing inadequate consideration of facts by the lower courts. Qureshi asserts that the cipher case against him is politically motivated and lacks adherence to legal requisites in the filed FIR.
He emphasizes that the FIR fails to establish a direct connection between him and the primary accused, thereby questioning his involvement. Qureshi also highlights his immunity as a foreign minister under Article 248. It’s noteworthy that the Islamabad High Court previously turned down Qureshi’s bail plea in the cipher case.
