Amidst the heightened tensions between Pakistan and Iran, the intelligence agency has issued a terrorism alert in the federal capital, Islamabad.
Due to the precarious security situation along the Pakistan-Iran border, intelligence agencies have raised concerns about potential acts of terrorism targeting protest camps of the Baloch community and the personnel of police and law enforcement agencies in Islamabad. The district administration and Islamabad police have been instructed to implement comprehensive security measures.
Intelligence reports conveyed through a letter to the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Operations Islamabad highlight the ongoing Baloch Solidarity Committee protest in front of the Islamabad Press Club near the federal capital’s red zone, lasting for more than three weeks. Additionally, a camp led by Jamal Raisani of the Balochistan Martyrs Forum has been established for a week in the vicinity. Jamal Raisani, the head of the Balochistan Martyrs Forum, is reportedly under threat.
Given the current situation along the Pakistan-Iran border in Balochistan, there are indications that anti-state elements, terrorist organizations, militant groups active in Balochistan, and adversarial intelligence agencies may attempt to instigate chaos in the country. The targets of concern include the protest camps and the potential targeting of police and law enforcement personnel involved in various duties.
In response to these intelligence reports, security agencies emphasize the gravity of the situation and urge the implementation of foolproof security measures to prevent any untoward incidents. The federal capital is on high alert, and security has been heightened for crucial government facilities, prominent figures, as well as police officers and soldiers, based on the intelligence assessments.
