The High Court in Islamabad has granted a temporary reinstatement of the Deputy Commissioner’s authority to issue MPO (Maintenance of Public Order).
Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmour Jahangiri issued this order in response to an application for injunction. The court has also issued notices to the concerned parties regarding the appeal filed by the Chief Commissioner and others challenging the single bench decision. It is noteworthy that Justice Babar Sattar, in a previous ruling, deemed the authority of the DC Islamabad to issue MPO as illegal. In response, the Chief Commissioner and Home Secretary filed an intra-court appeal against this decision.
