In Lahore, former Federal Minister Faisal Vawda commented on the current situation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that the party is facing consequences for its actions.
Vawda, in a conversation with a private TV channel, emphasized that his father cannot craft his political manifesto, likening it to Irfan Siddiqui writing the manifesto for his children. He noted the absence of any expressed concern from Nawaz Sharif, adding that he would find a solution to prevent his or the Prime Minister’s removal.
Vawda criticized the lack of accountability in the system, citing examples of judicial decisions and the handling of corruption cases. He highlighted issues like the Recodek scandal, the resignations of judges facing corruption charges, and the absence of consequences for certain actions. Vawda also condemned the disrespect shown in political discourse, expressing concern about the country’s direction and the potential for chaos if corrective measures are not taken.
He warned that if the current trajectory continues, the country could face disastrous consequences, blaming those he referred to as “contractors of the democratic system.” Vawda questioned the legitimacy of holding elections and warned against the dissolution of political parties without proper justification.
Responding to another question, Vawda predicted that if the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) gains momentum, the government might last two to two and a half years; otherwise, he suggested a potential change within six to seven months. He commented on political figures residing abroad and their occasional health-related excuses, referencing statements made by Nawaz Sharif about economic figures and attributing changes to the governance of the Chief of Army Staff.
