ISLAMABAD: A few hours after NEPRA approved a huge increase in electricity price, another electricity bomb was dropped on the public.
According to the authorities, electricity consumers will have to make payments in August bills. This new increase in the price of electricity has been made in the context of the monthly fuel adjustment for June.
It has been reported that in June less cheap electricity was generated than water and coal. China Power Sahiwal Coal Power Plant was run less.
According to Nepra, more power was generated from imported LNG and expensive furnace oil. In June, 10.3% more electricity was generated from imported LNG.
Due to violation of merit order in June, there was an additional burden of Rs. 95.7 million. A notification has been sent to the federal government for a decision accepting the government’s request for an increase of Rs 50 per unit.
According to the approval, the basic electricity tariff will increase from Rs 3 to Rs 7 and a half per unit.
