A government official was injured in an attack during an operation against illegal constructions in Murree.

In Murree, a government official sustained injuries during an attack by troublemakers amidst an operation targeting illegal constructions.

Following directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab, a comprehensive clean-up operation was initiated to tackle encroachments and unauthorized structures on forest land in Murree. Significant action took place in various areas including Bansara Gali, Cart Road, Short Cut Road, Upper Jhika Gali Road, Circuit Road, Lakot Expressway, Darya Gali, and Shivala, where several plazas and illegal constructions were demolished.

Amidst the operation, miscreants launched an attack on the anti-encroachment administration and personnel, resulting in injuries to a government employee named Daniyal due to stone pelting. Daniyal has been transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the assailants and have commenced raids to apprehend them. The district administration has highlighted that this marks the initial phase of the operation, during which illegal plazas and encroachments were razed with the aid of machinery. There have been numerous reports indicating the prevalence of illegal plazas and encroachments in Murree. Despite pressure, the Chief Minister of Punjab has remained steadfast in approving the operation against encroachments, signaling its continuation in the days ahead.

Meanwhile, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb commended the Murree administration for their efforts and expressed appreciation for those who courageously initiated the operation against encroachments as per the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Aurangzeb emphasized that the Forest Department’s land transfer staff endured injuries while upholding the law, and she assured that strict measures would be taken against any violators.
