The contempt of court case targeting the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi, who was accused of defaming the judiciary, is scheduled for a hearing after a lapse of two years following his demise.
As reported by Express News, in 2018, a petition alleging contempt of court was filed against Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the former leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). Barrister Masroor Shah asserted that Rizvi had made derogatory remarks about the Supreme Court, its judges, and the overall judiciary. The plea urged appropriate action against those found guilty of defamation.
What raises eyebrows is the fact that this petition has now surfaced for consideration, even though both Khadim Rizvi and the petitioner Barrister Masroor Shah have passed away during the intervening two years.
A bench comprising of two members, led by the esteemed Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel of the Supreme Court, is scheduled to deliberate on this matter on August 15th. Notably, both the plaintiff and the respondent in this case are no longer alive.
