Islamabad: Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Federal Minister for IT, announced a remarkable surge in domestic IT exports, attributing the success to government policies.
In his statement, he revealed that after a 13 percent increase in November, IT exports in December reached a record growth of 22 percent, totaling $303 million.
The surge, according to Dr. Umar Saif, can be attributed to several factors, including the provision of a 50% dollar retention facility, the implementation of a digital payment system, and enhanced facilities for freelancers.
Expressing gratitude to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Dr. Umar Saif stated that the Prime Minister acknowledges their contribution to facilitating the IT industry. He emphasized that the government’s overarching goal is to boost the IT and telecom sector, ultimately stabilizing the country’s economy. Dr. Umar Saif highlighted that this uptick is just the beginning, anticipating more significant results soon. He affirmed that the target of achieving $10 billion is within reach, and his reforms have set the stage for the IT industry’s development in the future government.
Chairman Pasha Zohaib Khan extended congratulations to Minister IT, SIFC, and the IT industry for the notable increase in IT exports.
