In Gulistan Johar, Karachi, Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman, a prominent religious scholar, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. As reported by media, unidentified individuals on motorcycles fatally shot Maulana Ziaur Rahman, who was associated with Jamia Abu Bakr Islamia located in Block 16 of Golestan Johar, falling under the jurisdiction of Shahrah Faisal Police Station.
According to ASP Zafar Changa, the attack occurred while Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman was walking in the park near the FBR building in Golestan Johar, resulting in his immediate death. It’s noteworthy that neither his mobile phone nor any cash was taken during the incident.
SSP East Irfan Bahadur disclosed that 11 spent bullet casings were recovered from the scene, comprising four of 9 mm caliber and seven of 30 bore. The surveillance cameras in the vicinity have been identified, which may aid in identifying the culprits.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that two individuals on motorcycles carried out the indiscriminate firing. Meanwhile, IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar has taken cognizance of the incident and has requested detailed information from SSP East.
