Islamabad: The government has accelerated the legislative process in the absence of President Dr. Arif Alvi. Acting President has approved the bill to increase the period of disqualification to 5 years, on behalf of Sadiq Sanjrani on the Election Act Bill. Signed, the Bill became an Act of Parliament as soon as it was signed. After the passage of the bill, the power to date the elections has been transferred from the President to the Election Commission, after the amendment to the law, the maximum period of disqualification under Article 62 1F will be five years.
