Akbar S. Babar, a founding member of PTI, has accused the party of staging a charade in its intra-party elections, sidelining the essence of a fair electoral process. He emphasized the urgent need for an election commission within the party.
In a video directed at Imran Khan, the former PTI chairman highlighted the jeopardy faced by the party symbol and organization. He lamented the serious issues plaguing PTI, alleging that the intra-party elections were a mere facade, advocating for the establishment of an independent intra-party election commission.
Babar stressed the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution by providing a voter list and ensuring that all members, including founding figures and leaders, are not deprived of their fundamental democratic rights within PTI. He pointed out the absence of nomination papers, voter lists, and clear election procedures during visits to the Central Secretariat.
Moreover, he expressed concern over the adverse effects of a counterfeit intra-party election on the party’s challenges. Alongside other founding members, he highlighted the desire of Imran Khan’s cousin, Saeedullah Niazi, to participate in the intra-party elections, alleging that he was unfairly denied the opportunity.
