In Karachi, following the backlash from cricket enthusiasts in response to the World Cup 2023 anthem unveiled by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistani singer Ali Zafar has declared his intention to create the new World Cup anthem.
Recently, the ICC unveiled the official anthem for the Cricket World Cup 2023, which is set to take place in India. The song titled ‘Dil Jashan Bole’ was shared on ICC’s social media platforms and featured a performance by Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh, with music composed by Pritam.
Criticism from cricket fans and social media users poured in, with many expressing disappointment regarding the official World Cup anthem. In response to these sentiments, Pakistani fans requested Ali Zafar to step in and create the ICC anthem.
In response to these fan requests, Ali Zafar released a special video message on social media, announcing his decision to take on the task of producing the anthem for the ICC World Cup.
In his video message, Ali Zafar stated that the people in Pakistan have limited opportunities for entertainment, and during cricket events, they expect the anthem to be a lively and exciting one. He shared his idea of collaborating with the public to create the anthem.
He reached out to young music composers, writers, and producers in Pakistan, inviting them to join him in crafting the anthem. Ali Zafar urged those interested in music, whether in composing, lyric writing, singing, or providing creative input, to support him in this endeavor. He encouraged people to share their musical ideas, melodies, and lyrics on social media and tag him.
Ali Zafar emphasized that this collaborative effort would mark the first time in Pakistan’s history that they would democratically create an anthem for themselves, expressing confidence that with collective effort and divine assistance, they would succeed.
It’s worth noting that the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023, the most significant cricket tournament, is scheduled to be held in India from October 5 to November 19.
