The Centt Kachhari court in Lahore has released all underage drivers who were previously arrested in the city from their cases.
Judicial Magistrates Ejaz Ahmed and Rabia Riaz made rulings on several cases, rejecting the police’s request for judicial remand. The court stated that there was no mention of speeding or reckless driving in the cases and insufficient evidence to connect the accused with the alleged crimes.
Since the charges against underage drivers are bailable, the court dismissed the police’s plea for a 14-day judicial remand and discharged the accused from the case, provided they aren’t involved in any other legal matters.
As a result, they are to be released immediately. Earlier, the traffic police had detained 100 underage drivers and filed cases against them in different police stations within the Kent Circle.
