The Peshawar High Court has summoned ANP leader Amil Wali Khan for a contempt of court case set for January 11.
During the hearing of a contempt petition against ANP provincial president Amil Wali Khan, the court directed him to appear and provide an explanation.
The petitioner’s legal representative highlighted statements made by Amil Wali Khan in an interview, where he mentioned his acquaintance with the Chief Justice, stating the Chief Justice hails from Asad Qaiser’s village and has a legal background. Amil Wali Khan also commented that upon the Chief Justice’s retirement, he would return to the court as a lawyer and advocate.
The Chief Justice queried about the mentioned allied lawyers, to which the petitioner’s counsel, Barrister Sarwar Shah, specified that it refers to the legal wing of the Awami National Party. Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan then remarked that if he were associated with that group of lawyers, it would imply that they were threatening their own legal representatives.
The Advocate General reminded the Chief Justice of his 31 years of service, to which the Chief Justice clarified the reference to time, mentioning the possibility that Amil Wali Khan might not have been born during that period, thus highlighting the lack of acquaintance.
