The Islamabad High Court on Friday called for a detailed report on the handover of Aafia Siddiqui to the US authorities.
The case related to the health and repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was heard in the High Court.
Aafia Siddiqui’s sister Fawzia Siddiqui appeared in the court through video link and said that Fawzia Siddiqui holds the key to the return of Aafia Siddiqui with the government of Pakistan, the government should help us from November, the matter of Aafia should be resolved during the Biden government. After the arrival of the new American government, the matter will be delayed.
Aafia’s lawyer Mr. Smith submitted his affidavit in the court. The court on Friday called for a detailed report on the handover of Aafia Siddiqui to the US authorities.
Aafia’s lawyer Mr. Smith said in an affidavit that in 2003, Sindh government handed over Aafia Siddiqui along with her children to ISI and ISI handed over Aafia along with her children to America.
The Islamabad High Court sought answers to two questions on the extradition of Aafia Siddiqui to the US authorities, asking whether the ISI had any evidence related to Aafia Siddiqui, whether the ISI had the mandate to arrest Aafia and her family. Give the children to someone else.
The Additional Attorney General requested that the questions related to the extradition of Aafia Siddiqui to the US should be kept aside, otherwise the purpose of the request will not be resolved.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan inquired that the case of Dugal Sahib has come to the court, how to keep it aside, give a detailed report on the court questions by Friday, I am not ordering anyone today.
The court told the lawyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that you should also give a detailed answer to your office, otherwise I will make everyone sit here, there is time till Friday to give a detailed report.
The court adjourned the hearing by seeking a detailed report from the Additional Attorney General and the Ministry of External Affairs till Friday.
