Paris: Unlike the United States, France has expressed support for the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the potential arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the World News Agency, France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement affirming the country’s commitment to defending the decisions, independence, and immunity of the ICC in all circumstances.
Additionally, the French foreign ministry noted that it is up to the ICC’s pre-trial chamber to determine whether to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor.
In contrast, US President Joe Biden has condemned the ICC and called the potential arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister a provocation.
Yesterday, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan announced that he had requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammad Deif, and Ismail Haniyeh.
