In Islamabad, the Special Official Secrets Act Court has approved Asad Umar’s pre-arrest bail request related to the cipher case. Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain granted bail based on the statement of the FIA prosecutor, Shah Khawar Advocate. As part of the bail conditions, Asad Umar is required to provide a surety bond of 50,000 rupees.
During the court proceedings, FIA Prosecutor Shah Khawar Advocate stated that there is currently no need to arrest Asad Umar as there is insufficient evidence against him. However, he emphasized that they would monitor the situation and investigate further if additional evidence emerges. It’s worth noting that Asad Umar was not initially named in the FIR, and Shah Khawar Advocate suggested that his statement should be recorded by the court.
In response, Asad Umar’s lawyer, Babar Awan, urged Shah Khawar not to interfere in the court proceedings. Shah Khawar Advocate responded by stating that if any evidence arises in the future, they would inform Asad Umar accordingly.
The cipher case pertains to allegations against Chairman PTI, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and Asad Umar under the Official Secret Act Court.
