In the Asia Cup match held in Colombo, Bangladesh emerged victorious, defeating India by a margin of six runs. India, in pursuit of a target of 266 runs, was bowled out for 259 runs during the Super Four stage’s final showdown.
Shubman Gill was the standout performer for India, amassing 121 runs in his innings. Akshar Patel contributed 42 runs before being dismissed, while Surya Kumar Yadav and KL Rahul managed 26 and 19 runs, respectively. Mustafizur Rahman led the bowling attack for Bangladesh, securing three crucial wickets. Sargan Hasan and Mehdi Hasan also claimed two wickets each, while Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraz chipped in with one wicket apiece.
In the earlier innings, Bangladesh posted a total of 265 runs for the loss of eight wickets after being invited to bat by India. Captain Shakib Al Hasan led the charge with a notable 80-run contribution, while Toheed Hardoy contributed 54 runs to the team’s total. Naseem Ahmed made a valuable contribution of 44 runs before departing. Mehdi Hasan and Rasghan Hasan Shakib remained unbeaten with scores of 29 and 14 runs, respectively.
India’s bowling effort was spearheaded by Shardal Thakur, who claimed three wickets, while Mohammad Shami took two wickets. Prasad Krishna, Akshar Patel, and Ronder Jadeja each managed to grab one wicket.
