Attack on election office of People’s Party, case registered on the order of Election Commission.

In the aftermath of the assault on the election office belonging to the People’s Party in Lahore, law enforcement has initiated legal proceedings based on the directives of the Election Commission.

The spokesperson for the Election Commission reported that the Chief Election Commissioner promptly responded to the attack on the Pakistan People’s Party’s election office in Lahore. Subsequently, an order was issued to register a First Information Report (FIR) based on the complaint filed by the Pakistan People’s Party. The Inspector General of Punjab has been given explicit instructions in this regard.

In compliance with the Chief Election Commissioner’s instructions, the Satuktala police station filed a case against 10 unidentified individuals, as per the complaint lodged by Abbas Khokhar’s son, who was present at the scene during the incident. According to the plaintiff, the attackers, whose identities remain unknown, assaulted the office by hurling petrol-filled bottles at its doors and banners, resulting in a fire. Additionally, the assailants made off with 30 chairs valued at 50,000 and a generator worth 150,000 from the office.

Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the registration of the case and have initiated an investigation into the matter. It is noteworthy that the office targeted in the attack belonged to Manzar Abbas Khokhar, a candidate from the Pakistan People’s Party, and the incident occurred in the early hours of the previous day.
