Questions have surfaced regarding Haris Rauf’s abrupt withdrawal from the Australian tour after Pakistan’s Test squad was revealed without his inclusion.
The newly appointed chief selector, Wahab Riaz, expressed disappointment over Rauf’s last-minute decision, deeming it detrimental to Pakistan cricket. Riaz emphasized Rauf’s potential as an impact player in Test cricket and highlighted the team’s attempts to utilize his skills by requesting him to bowl around 10 to 12 overs per day, a task he has successfully executed in ODI cricket. Despite discussions with the team management, Rauf did not acquiesce.
Riaz lamented the challenge faced by Pakistan with fast bowlers operating at speeds of 140 mph being unfit. He stressed the importance of players making sacrifices for the national team, urging them to prioritize playing for Pakistan above personal preferences.
