Avoid posting on Facebook before going to sleep

Drinking tea or coffee late at night and eating in the middle of the night are known causes of sleeplessness, but according to experts, there is one thing that can spoil our nights sleep.

According to a Duke University study, posting on social media before bed can delay sleep by up to three hours.

Researchers in a study of 50,000 people found that people who posted something on social media within an hour of their bedtime took twice as long to fall asleep.

The study found that people who shared a post multiple times before going to sleep fell asleep later than those who posted once.

It is believed that the thought of liking and commenting on a post increases the amount of a hormone called adrenaline. These hormones interfere with sleep.

The blue light from the phone also affects our sleep considered to be the cause of deterioration.

According to Dr. William Meyerson, the head of the research, there can be many reasons for sleep deprivation, from the disruption of the circadian rhythm of the screen light to the comments or likes on the post.

For the study, published in the journal Sleep Medicine, researchers analyzed data from 51,000 people who used Read It. The researchers studied 23.6 million posts made by users between 2005 and 2021, from its creation.
