Babar Azam, the national cricketer, has once again been appointed as the captain of the Pakistan team for the white-ball format, as per a statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after a meeting with Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy across all formats following the national team’s poor performance in the ICC ODI World Cup last year.
Consequently, Shaheen Afridi was briefly appointed as the T20 captain and Shan Masood as the Test captain, with no final decision made regarding the captaincy. Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy tenure saw a defeat in a T20 series against New Zealand.
Notably, Babar Azam boasts an impressive record, having represented Pakistan in 52 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 109 T20 matches, with captaincy experience in 71 T20 matches, including the T20 World Cup. During his captaincy, Pakistan won 42 matches while facing defeat in 23 matches.
