Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakibul Hasan’s decision to contest the election

Shakib-ul-Hasan, the captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, has declared his intention to run for elections. Reports from international media indicate that he will be representing the ruling party, Awami League, in the upcoming elections on January 7th. He plans to contest from the Magura-1 constituency, his hometown.

Currently recuperating from an injury sustained during a World Cup match against Sri Lanka, Shakib Al Hasan’s return to the field remains uncertain. His decision follows in the footsteps of former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who was elected as a Member of Parliament in the previous elections.
