
The polling time for the general elections 2024 has ended across the country after which the counting of votes has started.
Queues formed outside the polling stations as voting began for the biggest and twelfth election in Pakistan’s history, with millions of people exercising their right to vote.
The polling continued from 8 am to 5 pm without any break, special security arrangements were made at the polling stations while police, Rangers and Pakistan Army troops were deployed to maintain law and order.
Candidates contested on 265 seats of National Assembly and 591 seats of Provincial Assemblies, the total number of candidates of National Assembly is 5 thousand 254, candidates from Punjab tried their luck on 141 seats of National Assembly, 296 seats of Provincial Assembly .
Polling was held on 61 National Assembly and 130 provincial seats from Sindh, 44 and 113 provincial seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 16 and 51 provincial assembly seats from Balochistan.
On the other hand, the polling time has been extended at 3 polling stations of Gujarat, the polling time has been extended at polling station number 260, 304 and 338, the polling time has been extended on the request of the District Returning Officer.
