Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), convened with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore to strategize for the upcoming presidential election.
The meeting, which included members of the PPP, Pakistan Muslim League (N), and other coalition partners, took place at the Governor House in Lahore.
During their discussions, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended congratulations to Maryam Nawaz on her new role and exchanged ideas on coordinating a unified strategy for the impending presidential election. Specifically, they deliberated on the voter count and engaged in talks about garnering support for their respective candidates.
Additionally, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with various PPP members, including Ali Haider Gilani, in the Punjab Assembly. Subsequently, both Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed the assembly members, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealing for votes in favor of his father, emphasizing his commitment to serving the populace.
In his address, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari commended Maryam Nawaz’s historic appointment as the first female Chief Minister of Punjab, highlighting its significance for women across Pakistan. He also lauded her efforts in announcing a Ramadan package aimed at aiding the underprivileged, expressing the PPP’s support for such initiatives.
Maryam Nawaz affirmed Asif Ali Zardari as the coalition’s presidential candidate, affirming their collective support for him. She emphasized that the decision to back Zardari was a consensus within the party and the coalition government.
