Late at night, a tragic incident occurred in the Sutlej River near Jasu Ki, resulting in a boat capsizing. Regrettably, one child lost their life, but thanks to the dedicated efforts of local authorities and rescue workers, 33 individuals were successfully rescued and brought to safety.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that out of the 40 people on board the boat, 33 men and women have been rescued and are currently receiving medical attention. Fortunately, their condition is stable.
Among those on the boat, 8 individuals were from Okara district, while 32 hailed from Bahawalnagar district. The search for the remaining missing persons is actively ongoing, with the local administration and rescue teams, including the Pakistan Army, actively participating in the operation.
The PDMA spokesperson confirmed that efforts to locate the missing individuals are continuing as part of the rescue operation.
