In the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad, the Tosha Khana case was heard, and the judge summoned the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party today.
Yesterday, Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar presided over the Tosha Khana case involving the Chairman of PTI.
Lawyer Amjad Pervez, representing the Election Commission, argued that the accused had admitted in statement 342 that the gifts were from Tosha Khana, so there was no need for further proof. In response, Chairman PTI claimed that his tax returns proved he did not commit any dishonesty, but the judge rejected this argument, pointing out that the witnesses related to tax were tax consultants.
Amjad Parvez, the lawyer for Chairman PTI, brought up that the case was already being heard in the High Court and that the Sessions Court should wait for the High Court’s decision as per the Supreme Court’s suggestion.
Judge Humayun Dilawar remarked that it was indeed too early for a decision and questioned why the High Court or Supreme Court hadn’t intervened if there was a stay order.
The hearing was adjourned until Friday prayers. After the break, news arrived that the Islamabad High Court had accepted the petition on admissibility and referred the matter back to the Sessions Court.
Consequently, the hearing was postponed again until the following morning, and the Chairman of PTI was also summoned to appear. The judge requested the PTI chairman’s lawyers to present their final arguments on the case’s admissibility at 8:30 am the next day, warning that the verdict might be given if they failed to do so.
