In Islamabad, Barrister Gauhar, the Chairman of PTI, stated that they have transitioned from being independent candidates to members of the regular Sunni Ittehad Council.
Speaking to the media, he highlighted that among the 720 pages of documents submitted to the Election Commission, the party structure included the name of the Sunni Ittehad Council for specific seats.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the National Assembly Speaker’s declaration of their independence, Barrister Gauhar emphasized their intention to address this matter. He also urged the Election Commission not to postpone the KP election, citing Article 51, which mandates that no party should be allocated more seats than they have won. Currently, the KP opposition holds 17 seats and is requesting an additional 30 seats.
It’s noteworthy that despite the National Assembly Secretariat acknowledging independent members supported by Tehreek-e-Insaaf, they have declined to recognize them as members of the Sunni Unity Council. This decision stems from the Peshawar High Court’s ruling.
